Green Touches CEO Adrienne Doolan and Executive Director Mohamed Elmahdy were delighted to be in attendance at the first Knowledge Series: Sustainability, at the DMCC Almas Tower, JLT, Dubai. Green Touches are participating members of the United National Global Compact Network UAE.
The goal of this event was to raise awareness among the DMCC’s 15,000 strong member companies as to how best to incorporate the UN’s 17 SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals) into companies strategic planning along with supporting the 10 principals of labor, environment, gender equality and anti-corruption.
The SDGs to be achieved by 2030, need to be globally supported in order to build a better world for all. We need radical innovation and need to change the way we do business.
Keynote speakers were, Gautam Sashittal, Chief Executive Officer, DMCC, Mahmoud Hesham El Burai, Chairman, UN Global Compact UAE Local Network and Aris Vrettos, Director of Open Programmes and International Markets, University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
A discussion panel led by Iris Van Der Veken, Director International Public Affairs, DMCC focused on sustainability with Amer Afifi, General Manager, Duracell Middle East, Ayla Bajwa, Founder and Ampuz and Senior Advisor to the United Nations Global Compact UAE Local Network offering their perspective.
